2. No fire shall be left unatended at any time.
3. For fires over 25 square feet in area (5 feet by 5 feet), ADVANCED NOTIFICATION must be provided to the PIKE COUNTY COMMUNICATIONS CENTER by phone at (570) 296-7700.
4. Automatic fire alarms MUST be registered with the Pike County Communications Center.
5. An automatic alarm must be maintained and in working order. Should an automatic alarm malfunction to the extent that a flase alarm is transmitted, the owner of such automatic alarm shall provide, within twenty-four (24) hours notification to the Township OR Fire Department that said alarm has been either disconnected or serviced. A second false alarm transmitted by an automatic fire alarm within forty-eight (48) hours of a false alarm shall constitue evidence of a violation for which the owner be fined.
PENALTIES:
Any person, whether as principle or agent, who violates the Township Fire Ordianace or assists or abets such violation shall, upon convicition therefor in a summary proceeding before any Magistrate, be sentenced to pay not less than fifty dollars ($50.00, nor more than one thousand dollars (#1,000.00) together with the costs of prosecutio, and in default of the payment such fines and costs, shall be commited to the Pike County Prison for a perios not exceeding thirty (30) days. Each violation shall constitue a separate offense.
NOTE:
A person intentionally starting a fire, which endangers another person (inculding a fire fighter) may be subject to penalties up to 20 years in jail and $20,000.00 fine. If a fire causes the death of a person ( including a fire fighter), whoever intentionallt set the fire may be charged with murder. Deliberatly transmitting a false alarm is punishable by up to 5 years in jail and $10,000.00 fine.
