The Emergency Medical Service Division of the Shohola Township Volunteer Fire and Rescue Inc. was founded in 1993 with the start of a (QRS) Quick Response Unit. The department started to train its members in first aid and CPR in the first responder and basic (EMT) Emergency Medical Technician classes of patient care.
After a years of service the members of the Quick Response Unit voted to increase its service to the community by upgrading it's service from a quick response unit to a certified (BLS) Basic Life Support ambulance. After additional training and assistance from adjoining local squads the first Shohola Township Emergency Services Basic Life Support Squad was formed.
The first ambulance used by the new squad was purchased from Med-Alert transport Co. out of Branchville NJ. The cost of this unit was a dollar. ($1.00)
After of service with the squads first ambulance, the members voted to upgrade its ambulance to a 1993 ford type 3 box ambulance. This ambulance was purchased from Shohola's adjoining squad Milford EMS. The cost for this ambulance was
In the past few years the population within Shohola Township and Pike County has increased and with this increase the demand on emergency services and its equipment has become greater. The members needed to replace there existing ambulance with a reliable, better equipped, and modern ambulance. In 2006 the Squad had received its first NEW ambulance from Horton. This ambulance replaced the older ambulance purchased from Milford EMS. The cost for the new ambulance was $
